I am Iiro Laine, a family entrepreneur from Rauma with a long career in the graphic arts industry. When the third generation of our family took over the company, I decided it was time to pursue my true passion—architecture.

GOTA was born out of a personal need.
I wanted to build a cottage on our property in Levi—something that would blend seamlessly with its natural surroundings while offering a fresh, modern form. When I couldn’t find anything that met these criteria, I decided to design it myself. That was the beginning of GOTA: a fusion of tradition and contemporary design.

Once the concept was finalized and I realized that nothing similar existed on the market, the idea of commercializing the design naturally followed. That marked the start of a project that combines the essence of classic Finnish cottage life with modern aesthetics and high living comfort.

To support the development and marketing of the project, I partnered with Business Finland and the ELY Centre. For the technical planning and initial costing, I chose Sweco Finland—a company with deep expertise in CLT (cross-laminated timber) construction and complex building projects.

The architectural vision comes from the internationally acclaimed Studio Puisto, renowned for their work in sustainable tourism and immersive nature-based experiences. Their design signature is clearly visible in GOTA: timeless Scandinavian aesthetics, smart spatial solutions, and a seamless integration with the surrounding environment—all contributing to a unique and memorable user experience.

Manufacturing is carried out by OnWood Oy (formerly Teijo-Talot Oy), a Finnish pioneer in modular construction with decades of experience. OnWood’s modern production facilities and rigorous quality control ensure that each GOTA unit is finished to exacting standards—delivered ready to use, safe, and on schedule. Their scalable production capacity also supports larger, more ambitious projects.
